  • ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS
 
 

  Official foreign students may be admitted to all faculties and departments of the University, with the exception of the Evening Education Program (Flex B). Official foreign students are those who enter either the four-year undergraduate program or any of the graduate programs in April. 
  A reasonable proficiency in Japanese is essential, as almost all classes are conducted in Japanese. 
  Entrance examinations for foreign applicants to the programs are held as stated below. For more detailed information please inquire at the Admission Center, (the University Information Bureau), to receive the Foreign Students' Entrance Examination Synopsis. 

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

 

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

  Applicants must satisfy each of the following four criteria. 
1.  The applicant's nationality must be other than Japanese.
2. The applicant must be at least eighteen years of age as of April 1.
3. The applicant must have completed twelve years of school education in a foreign country or have had an equivalent school education approved by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan. 
4.  The applicant must have taken the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students administered by the Foundation of Japan Students Services Organization. 
 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  The required application form should be submitted to the Admission Center, the University Information Bureau. The entrance examination fee should also be paid using the required form by bank transfer. Applications are accepted in November. 
 

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

  A written examination and an interview are conducted in Japanese (the examination subjects are different in each department). The examination is conducted in January. 

GRADUATE SCHOOL

 

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY FOR THE MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM

  Applicants must satisfy one of the following criteria. 
1.  Applicants who have graduated or are scheduled to graduate from a Bachelor's degree program by March 31. 
2.  Applicants who have received or are scheduled to receive a Bachelor's Degree. 
3.  Applicants who have completed sixteen years of education in a foreign country.
4. Applicants who have been approved by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan.
5.  Applicants whom the Graduate School has judged through individual examination as being equal in scholastic achievement with Bachelor’s Degree holders. Such applicants must be at least twenty-two years old as of April 1. 
 

QUALIFICATION FOR THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM

1.  Applicants who have received or are scheduled to receive the Master's Degree by March 31. 
2.  Applicants who have received or are scheduled to receive the Master's Degree or its equivalent in a foreign country.  
3.  Applicants who have been approved by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan. 
 
4.  Applicants whom the Graduate School has judged through individual examination as being equal in scholastic achievement with Master’s Degree holders. Such applicants must be at least twenty-four years old as of April 1.

INDIVIDUAL EXAMINATION OF APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION

【PRELIMINARY QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION】

● ADMISSION TO THE MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM
A preliminary qualification examination is required for those who graduated from a junior college, a college of technology, a specialized school, or other education institution.

●  ADMISSION TO THE DOCTORAL CURRICULUM
A preliminary qualification examination is needed by those who graduated from a university, a junior college, a college of technology, a specialized school, or other education institution.
※The contents of the examination are different for each division.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  The required application form should be submitted to the Admission Center, the University Information Bureau. The entrance examination fee should also be paid using the required form by bank transfer. Overseas applications are accepted only in July. Domestic applications are accepted in August and January. Applications for the doctoral degree program are accepted only in January (Overseas applications are not accepted in January).

  Written examinations in the applicant's specialty and in a foreign language, as well as an interview, are conducted in Japanese. The examination subjects are different for each department. The examination for the master's program is conducted in September and February. The examination for the doctoral program is conducted only in February.
